The Barlow is intended and planned to be an asset to the community of Sebastopol. The Barlow will improve city streets and increase the amount of trees and public landscaping to the area. By extending McKinley Street to Morris Street, creating an east-west connection through the site, and connecting Sebastopol Avenue to Laguna Parkway, creating a south-north connection, congestion to the downtown area will be greatly reduced, making the area safer for vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
We have also included several features to increase the use of the space by the community. These features include a community stage for music and theater performances, art, gardens, trees and parks, fountains and, of course, apple trees, which will create an environment that everyone can enjoy. Fire pits, bocce ball courts, children's play areas and the proximity to the skate park will make this a family destination for all of Sonoma County!
We are also extremely proud to be the new home of the Sebastopol farmers' market two days per week. Our location will be safer for children and families provide public restrooms for the market and offer more parking and less congestion downtown during hours of operation.
We invite you to learn more about this development and join our community!
Farmers' Market
We are extremely proud to be the new home of the Sebastopol Farmers' Market!
Browse the farmstands filled with fresh Sonoma County fruits and vegetables while enjoying live music and a convivial atmosphere. The beautifully landscaped campus will be safer for children and families and will provide public restrooms, more parking and less congestion in downtown Sebastopol.
Covered awnings will provide a space for the Farmers' Market to continue their operation year round and amenities such as an outdoor stage and children's playground will make the Barlow not only a space to conduct business, but a place for people to come together and spend time with friends and family.
"I don't have words to express what The Barlow project will mean to the Farmers Market and the City of Sebastopol...a lot!
It is the realization of a dream that many people have nurtured for awhile: Revival of Sebastopol as an amazing place to grow and create, enjoy and honor food. (Sebastopol) has been known for apples, cherries (and) hops in the past. The Barlow will open the possibility of being known for a cornucopia of food - cheeses, meats, fish, vegetables, fruit - everything!
People will love how much fun it will be! ...I think about (a) place that arouses a sense of great wellbeing - how good can it get!
The (Farmers) market itself will be able to breathe. We are in a sweet space but we are so crammed and crowded. The thought that we can expand our play ground a little bit is really enticing."
